Soviet air transportable Armoured Personnel Carrier. BTR-D is a very compact APC based on a stretched BMD-1 hull, these entered service in 1974 due to the very limited carrying capacity of the BMD-1. Able to transport 10 men and 3 crew these remain in service as APC, Armoured ambulance and cargo carriers. They can also be used as AA gun carriers and Mortar transports
