      M902 ITV (Improved TOW)

      The M988 ITV (Improved TOW Vehicle) replaced the earlier TOW armed M113s with an enclosed turret that can “pop-up” to look over terrain and fire missiles while the carrier remains hidden. Entered service in the mid 80s and served through the 1st Gulf war.

      The Meteorit mine clearer based on the chassis of the 2S1 artillery tank. The vehcle’s rocket launcher deploys an explosive filled hose accross a mine field to create a safe path. The launcher is similar in shape to the standard artillery turret to help disguise the vehicles purpose. Enterd service in 1977.

The Humvee gradualy replaced the Ford MUT and military light trucks as troop, weapons and cargo carrier.  Over 190, 000 have been built and sold around the world.  The first M988 versions had load capacity of 1100kg and had no armour it was fitted with a fabric roof and doors.
